Dr. Jennifer Satterfield·Siegel
When you walk into the Special Smiles office, there really is only one thing to say: WOW! Kids of all ages are taken aback as they step under the sea and into Dr. Jennifer Satterfield·Siegel’s office complete with huge seaweed pillars, fish bursting through the glass doors, a treasure chest TV and teen’s zone complete with computers and video games.
This private pediatric dentist office located in Carmel, serves Indianapolis, Zionsville and surrounding area patients. The name Special Smiles comes from Dr. Satterfield-Siegel’s philosophy on dentistry, “I truly believe that every child is special. I look at every kid who walks through those doors with love. Through my practice, I strive to make every child feel as special as they are. That’s why I ask about more than just teeth-we talk about school, friends, family. It’s not always just about dentistry, I want to know the big picture.”
Dr. Satterfield·Siegel is a firm believer that big picture is important. Her staff privileges at St. Vincent Hospital enable her to work with other doctors to have a holistic view of each child. If a child needs surgery, she can do that to. She believes that taking away the fear in dentistry is important. “I want kids to be able to count on me. One of my main goals is to make the child feel as comfortable as possible. I explain everything in detail so they know exactly what to expect,” Dr. Satterfield-Siegel explained. This approach has an amazing effect on her patients, “I hear a lot from parents that their kids will ask ‘is it time for our dental appointment yet?’”
As parents, it’s important to know that Dr. Satterfield-Siegel works with both parents and children to come up with a solution that works for everyone. She explains, “Having my own children, I really understand being a protective parent. I tell all of my parents to call me if they have questions – don’t sit at home and be worried, just pick up the phone! I understand that they are advocates for their children and I want to work with them to make sure this
experience isn’t a intimidating one for them or their kids.”
In addition to a long list of dental certifications, including being a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Satterfield-Siegel is actively involved in the Indianapolis Community. She’s on the board for the Indianapolis Children’s Museum and is currently Co President-Elect for the Park Tudor Parent Association, where her
three children attend school. In addition to her commitment to the community, Dr. Satterfield·Siegel dedicates herself to continuing her dental education. She goes above and beyond her continuing education requirements and strives to be knowledgeable on the latest and best techniques in pediatric dentistry.
Her passion in the field stems from her devotion to the patients she serves. Dr. Satterfield·Siegel really is all about the children. When asked her greatest professional achievement she replied, “When I meet a child for the first time and without asking, without prompt, they give me a hug at the end of the appointment. You really can’t beat that feeling.”
